Hybrid Solar and Battery System for Freshwater Point Homestead
Client: Freshwater Point Homestead
Year: 2024
Project Cost: $74,400 + GST
In 2024, Mode Energy designed, supplied, and installed a grid-connected hybrid solar and battery system for Freshwater Point Homestead. This comprehensive system powers a small winery, vineyard and irrigation, the main homestead, and ancillary dwellings used for accommodation. The system provides roughly 90% of the power needed for the entire site and offers backup for essential loads during power outages.
Scope of the Project
- Design, supply, and installation of a hybrid solar and battery system.
- Provision of power for a winery, vineyard, main homestead, and accommodation dwellings.
- Backup power for essential loads during outages.
Technical Specifications
- 38kW SunPower rooftop solar array: High-efficiency solar panels installed on rooftops to capture solar energy.
- 28kWh Tesla Powerwall battery system: Advanced battery storage system to ensure energy availability and backup.
- 30kW Fronius solar inverters: Reliable inverters for effective energy conversion and utilisation.
Impact
The hybrid solar and battery system significantly reduces Freshwater Point Homestead’s reliance on grid power, providing approximately 90% of the energy needed for the site. The system enhances energy independence, reduces utility costs, and ensures critical operations remain powered
during outages.
Mode Energy’s implementation of the hybrid solar and battery system for Freshwater Point Homestead showcases our ability to deliver tailored, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions for
commercial clients.
